Ready Times For Primetime: February 19-21
· Please remember to be dressed and ready in full costume with hair, makeup and warm-up by the ready time. We will begin practicing at the specified time.
· All students are to attend group awards. Hair should be neat (still competition ready) with black and white bows, warm-up or Academy attire should be worn with makeup still complete. In doing this our dancers look professional and tidy on stage, they also look great for our group picture after awards!

February Booster Notes
Competition Team Notes for February 4, 2010
January Showcase:
We appreciate you working with us even though it was cold. Once the dancers got going they were sweating and forgot about the temperature. A special thank you to the parents and students who arrived competition ready for the showcase. It is much appreciated when the dancers look professional.
LA Dance Magic:
LA Dance Magic was fantastic! I think we can all agree that it was a much improved performance over the showcase. Thank you, parents, for all of your support and working so hard to have the costumes stoned. They looked great on stage. The highest scoring dance for the Academy was Bingo followed by Butterflies. The ladies who made cuts for auditions were Sammie, Ally, Jacy, Cassie, Savannah, Gracie, Sydney D and Brittany. Dancers who received scholarships were Savannah, Sydney D and Brittany. Congratulations to all of our dancers for a job well done! **Thank you Mr. Fuller for copying the video and pictures from the competition**

February 6:
Snowflake Twirling Contest: NO BUDDIES
Dancers are to arrive by 7:00am with first costume on, hair and make-up complete with warm-up on.
Hair is poof and pony for all competition dance and twirling numbers
Full competition make-up including eyelashes
There will be a welcome desk at the front. Please pick up your child’s folder prior to the competition. This will have their score sheets for the day, a program and any information you will need.
They day will go by very quick and smooth if we all chip in and do our part
Props will load tonight immediately following the booster meeting and unload on Saturday at 7:00am. They will reload immediately following the afternoon competition and the final unload will be on Monday at 6:30 and the Academy.
The order for 7:30am and noon competitions is attached. Please have costumes in order and organized to assist the competition in running smoothly.
Plan for the day to be 7:00am-4:00pm.
February 19-21:

Buddy theme is ‘Picture Time!’ -picture frames, picture books..Get creative!
All costumes will be completed by this competition
We will get you the ready times as soon as they post the competition schedule. Plan for ready times to be at least 2 hours before competition time.
Anyone dancing on Saturday needs to plan to stay in St. Louis on Friday night.
Reminders:
Dancers should be dressed in costume with hair and make-up complete at the ready time, not performance time.
At large competitions petite dances have been known to dance on Friday nights.

Go ahead and book your room for Star power. This will be a large competition and the hotels will fill up fast!
April
Showbiz and Recital will be here before you know it! Recital packets will be handed out next week. The theme is being finalized and costumes ordered.

Please be sure you have hotel reservations for all competitions.
The trailer will load at 6:30 on Thursday and unload at 6:30 on Monday. We need volunteers to unload the trailer at the competition and reload after the competition.

LA Dance Magic Details
LA Dance Magic –
January 16th - 17th
All competition students need to be in St. Louis early Friday evening.
Please remember this is a very long weekend, get students to bed as early as possible throughout the week and on Friday. We want to be our best this weekend!
No swimming at the hotels
Those staying at Residence Inn Shuttle Riders
Saturday Shuttle ride meet Ms. Whitney at 6:45 am—Please let us know who you are?
Sunday Shuttle ride meet Ms. Whitney at 6:20am – Please let us know who you are?
Parents feel free to meet us over at the workshop
Shuttle the rest of the weekend runs 7am to 10:30pm just call 314-289-7500
Breakfast is 7-10am ( I am working on getting them to feed us at 6:30am)
All rooms have full fridge and kitchen so you can bring breakfast food, food for the next day, ect.
Workshop Classes – They have added classes this year so we will get even more out of it! Unfortunately that means longer days.
Saturday: Meet at the bottom of the stairs at 7:00am, ready to dance, to receive your wristband. Everyone needs to be in black AFA attire and new bows (handed out on Thursday). You may wear AFA bra top, tank top, leotard and booty shorts. You may wear other black and white items with these. Just be sure you are in black and white!
**All Jumpstart and Junior girls need to wear hair in the pigtail buns, performance ready with lots of spray and new bows. (We hope this stays and then we will be ready for the competition).
**Seniors may wear hair as they wish as long as it is tidy with their new bow.
**Boys: Competition t-shirts with black warm up type pants or shorts
Saturday evening competition:
*Juniors arrive at 2:45. Dressed and ready in first costume. Eat dinner during your break and bring snacks for between dances.
*Seniors arrive for the competition with first costume, hair and make-up complete and warm up
This runs VERY quickly. Please arrive on time and have everything organized and ready.
Sunday: Meet at the bottom of the stairs at 6:30am to warm up for auditions. Feel free to wear something that will help you stand out! Hair is the same as Saturday.
The rooms are broken down by age. In the Jumpstart and Junior rooms there is an overlap in age. We have talked to those with the overlap individually about the best option for your child
Senior room: 12 and over
Junior room: 7-11
Jumpstart: 8 and under
Auditions: All competitions students in Junior and Senior need to participate in these auditions Sunday morning. Please have your student at the bottom of the stairs dressed and ready for the auditions at 6:30am. We will warm up as a group. Auditions begin promptly at 7:00am. All students need competition ready hair, earrings, barrettes and or bows and minimal makeup.
Have fun and SMILE
Big/Little Buddies
The theme for this competition is ‘something fun that has to do with writing or coloring’
Please plan to bring the wrapped gift on Thursday and place in the box in the entrance way; Please be sure the To and From is very clear;
Extras
Have old shoes for practice. The carpet will eat them.
Have healthy snacks and a water bottle in the dancers bag.
Suggest bringing a cooler with your lunch, dinner (for Sat), and snacks. This will help avoid long lines
Have lunch their 15 mins prior to lunch. We will eat as a group and review our dances for the competition that evening
Encourage your dancer to stay close to the front of the room
All classes need to be attended by all students
Friday – Work to arrive and be in bed no later than 8. It is a very long weekend.
Saturday –
7:00 Everyone meet downstairs in the lobby with breakfast finished ready to dance
7:30 Warm up for everyone in senior room
11:00 Have lunch for juniors ready. They will eat at 11:15 and we will rehearse the competition dances.
11:15 Have lunch for Seniors ready. They will eat at 11:30 and we will rehearse the competition dances. Jumpstart dancers are done with classes. They will eat while we rehearse competition dances before going to rest.
12:15 and 12:30 Classes resume
2:15 Junior classes end. Eat and get ready for competition **please be aware there is really not enough time to leave and come back
2:30 Senior classes end. Eat and get ready for competition.
3:00 Juniors arrive back downstairs ready for competition and have eaten a snack with first costume and warm-up on ready to compete
4:00 Competition begins
4:00 Seniors arrive downstairs ready for competition and have eaten a snack with first costume and warm-up on ready to compete.

We have the hard part of competition season almost over!! As with any competitive activity times can get a little tense but we appreciate all that each of you are doing to make this a great year!! Here’s to a great 2010!!
DECEMBER
All of the Holiday performances went great! Thank you to those of you that could participate in them. These are great fundraisers and are very fun for everyone involved.

Competition Showcase
The showcase went very smoothly. Thank you for everyone that came with hair and make-up complete. As teachers, we have watched the video and are working on things that can be improved upon. Please keep in mind there are a lot of people putting in many hours to make our competition team the best it can be. We ask that you do the same when it comes to preparation for performances and competitions. The total cost for the Showcase is $350 for the building and heat.
Costumes
Shoes
All correct shoes will be worn for every competition. Practice shoes of each style should be in the dancers bag to for practice
Make Up
All make up including eyelashes and rhinestones are to be worn for every competition and performance.
Costume Fittings:
Wanda is working as hard as she can to have everything finished for Saturday.
We might need volunteers to help with bow making for Bingo and Itsy

Competition Showcase
The showcase went very smoothly. Thank you for everyone that came with hair and make-up complete. As teachers, we have watched the video and are working on things that can be improved upon. Please keep in mind there are a lot of people putting in many hours to make our competition team the best it can be. We ask that you do the same when it comes to preparation for performances and competitions. The total cost for the Showcase is $350 for the building and heat.
Costumes
Shoes
All correct shoes will be worn for every competition. Practice shoes of each style should be in the dancers bag to for practice
Make Up
All make up including eyelashes and rhinestones are to be worn for every competition and performance.
Costume Fittings:
Wanda is working as hard as she can to have everything finished for Saturday.
We might need volunteers to help with bow making for Bingo and Itsy

Stoning:
The costumes left to stone are Miss Invisible, Shake and Pop, Life Goes to a Party, Tiny Dancer and Work me Down. Please be sure you are working and these and will have them done by Saturday.

Trailer loading

Moms are to check the dancers to be sure they are appropriately dressed. Make-up and hair should be professional and accessories checked before going backstage.
